Building Inclusive STEM Pathways: Connecting Communities

Ripple Project

Libraries play a vital role in connecting communities with resources and educational opportunities. In Dane County, Wisconsin, libraries sought to bridge the gap in STEM programming, especially for children from diverse backgrounds. Nakira’s World collaborated with local libraries to create engaging and inclusive STEM activities that inspire children to see themselves as future innovators.

The Problem

Desire for Inclusive STEM
Programming for Libraries

Local libraries in Dane County were eager to offer programs that reflected the diversity of their patrons and have the experience be inclusive and exciting. However, they often lacked the resources and tools needed to create engaging, hands-on experiences that could inspire all children.

Nakira’s World Brought Tailored, Engaging STEM Programming to the Libraries

Our Solution

Partnering with Libraries for Creative STEM Programming

Nakira’s World collaborated with four Wisconsin public libraries to launch a dynamic programming series featuring Nakira’s World Decoder Puzzles and decoder glasses. These hands-on activities were designed to inspire children to explore STEM.

Making STEM Relatable and Creative

Participants not only solved puzzles but also crafted their own decoder puzzles using everyday materials, demonstrating that STEM is accessible and all around us. The programs empowered kids to think creatively.

”loved how easy the program was and the potential to take it anywhere. We can have it at the library, in a park, and at a childcare center. … children are engaged in the hands-on. … simple hands-on activities that are easy to replicate at home and support informal learning as a family”
